Mt. Jefferson from Hood-to-Coast Starting Line For those not familiar with the Hood-to-Coast relay, it is a running relay that begins at Timberline Lodge half way up Mr. Hood and ends at Seaside on the Oregon coast: 197 miles, 1,000 teams, 2,000 vans, thousands of volunteers, and 12,000 sweaty runners over a period of 36 hours (reminds me of a train I was on in Tokyo recently). Teams from all over the world fly into Oregon to participate in this mayhem. It is likely that everyone in the Pacific Northwest, especially Portland, has felt the lure of the race and pondered the question, “I wonder if I can do it?” In my moment of weakness (or stupidity), I have succumbed to the temptation and am about to find out if I have what it takes. The picture above is my first goal: finishing the Hood-to-Coast relay and ending at the Oregon coast. I’ve dodged buckling sidewalks, mud puddles, dog crap and other sundry obstacles as I dashed through the streets of Beaverton, Kona, Kyoto, Bordeaux, and Alameda. Three, five, sometimes even seven miles to build up endurance for this race. My second goal (and our team goal) is to raise money for the AIDS orphans in Africa. Steve Johnson, a fellow runner and pastor at the Portland International church of Christ suggested that we use this opportunity to raise awareness and funds for the plight of Aids orphans in Africa. Click on the “About the Cause” link for more details on what we are running for. To reach this goal, I need your help. I have two ways in which you can help. First is to make a donation using the form on the left. 100% of the donations are tax deductible and go through HOPEworldwide to help the AIDS orphans in Africa. The second method is to buy one of my pictures. As you may know, I love to take pictures, and have been blessed to have been in many beautiful locations throughout the world. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to figure out how to make these purchases tax deductible but when you buy one of my pictures, I will donate 100% of the proceeds to HOPEworldwide. The following link takes you to my Picasa site which has a small sample of the pictures that I have taken over the years. Photo Link or copy and past into browser address bar: http://picasaweb.google.com/ABowmanFamily/FavoritePhotographs?authkey=Gv1sRgCJ_-od63uqyJsAE&feat=directlink The cost for the prints is as follows: Posters $25 - 11x14 $35 - 16x20 $50 - 20x30 Poster Board (local only since I don’t think it will ship well) $30 - 11x14 $40 - 16x20 $55 - 20x30 Canvas $60 - 11x14 $85 - 16x20 $120 - 20x30 Send me an email at aarondbowman@gmail.com with the picture, size and media you are interested in and I’ll forward payment details. Thanks for helping the AIDS orphans in Africa and your interest in our team. "The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.' Matthew 25:40
